Agreement! Shock!
Where is the real Ellessar and does he have cookies?

[QUOTE] I'm surpised you are not bent out of shape. After all cookies can't be allowed since we don't see cookies in many episodes or in the movies. Hence cookies are not canon and cannot exist. How's that is that more in line with what you expected me to say?

but can you duel-weild cookies? Would eating 2 cookies at once have flavor penalties and mouth accuracy problems?

ok, serious question....what MMORPG's allow dual-wielding? I know FFXI does, but only for one specific class of character. Most of the arguments for it have involved CS, but that's a fps, not a rpg.

[QUOTE] You are aware that ground combat is intended to be FPS are you not? Not that it really matter if other games do it or not, but yeah several other MMOs have dual wielders. Some of the ones that I have played that have dual wielding are EQ2, WoW, Saga of Ryzom, and the Matrix Online. SWG does not have any dual wielders, but the devs have promised that one day SWG will see the ability to dual wield pistols. But since it takes them about a year and half to actually do what they promise I would not expect to see it anytime soon. The ability to successful include it in a balanced and fair manner is not an issue. It has been done in the past in both FPS and rpg style MMOs.

Actually I expected you to invoke Oroes as an example of proper cookiness. I would have had to smite you with much milk. \o/ Hazelnut Chocolate Chip for the win! ~Ortus

The only dual wielding that is possible by human standards of strength is the use of the tricorder in conjunction with the phaser or using two phasers. It will be up to the game developers on whether or not this style of fighting is used.

After having watched an unhealthy amount of trek, it seems that while phasers have the potential to make a one hit kill. Often this is not the case, quite often med bay is filled with people with shoulder and extremity phaser wounds, you see this in many DS9 kingon/starfleet battles. I have no reason to think the klingons had kid gloves on. You know they would be trying to kill as often as possible . So there must be a reason for this, I'm thinking either people can be "grazed" or perhaps the MegaKill/incinerate setting has a cooldown/charge time or maybe eats your power reserves like a batch of tribbles in your lunchbag. In a long firefight, the heavyest setting would leave you unarmed quickly where the lower "Maim" setting could be used for a long long time inflicting wounds that impair and disable .

OK, lets try this from an idiotically scientific perspective. Laser rays (from which, I am assuming, phaser fire is derived) are, essentially heat, no? Heat burns. If you are hit in an arm, you could have it either severely burned or cleanly severed. If you are hit center of mass, goodbye vitals. It never made sense to me that a phaser on stun will hurl a person back or make him collapse in a heap. Electricity does that, not heat. What I'm driving at is this. If you have your phaser set on stun, your target is incapacitated with severe burns. If its not stun, its Vetrais' "deep fried". Does this make any sense?
