I think it would make a great game because Star Trek has always been shooter/strategy/flight in terms of videogames and a FPS makes since for the M.A.C.O.s to be in.

I think it'd be cool! The older style phaser tech, lots of away missions and such.

Time to time I fire up the Elite Force & EF2 games just because I want to play something Star Trek ;)

True, PE is currently the only company with a license to make a ST game at the moment.

Dosn't mean there can't be another company that comes along, aproaches the right people and want to make another first person shooter. IMHO, PE will have its hands full with full development of STO...

And theres so many companies out there right now. Lots of smaller ones have come up in the last couple years, in which get their titles published by larger companies like Ubisoft or Activision.

Even at the moment, Ubisoft has a handfull of titles out on the store shelves, several just recently released, each game by a smaller sub-developer. To name a few- FarCry (Cryogen), Silent Hunter 3 (??), Cold Gear (??)...

EF1 & EF2 was a Ritual / Activision game.

Speaking of which, considering some of the game engine advances in realistic effects like those in FarCry, would be nice to have another ST game that pushed the envelope. EF1&2 were the same way when they debuted (quake3 engine at the time of 16-64mb videocards ATI Radeon / Geforce1&2). That always comes with a price, as when EF2 came out my machine was underspeck to run it enjoyably. 2yrs later, re-installed the game and played it at highest res + fullest details.

Elite Force was by Raven Software. E3 is here and I believe a game will be announced soon.

A MACO game would hit the spot right about now. Bring in Major Hayes, Mirror Mayweather and Reed (Oh Hell, bring the entire Enterprise cast in,voice-wise), the Xindi and a Mirror Tholian base and you have a game...

The (as of now) two ######## who voted no are either hypocrites or don't like FPS. I was never a big fan of Voyager, but I purchased Elite Force I&II (well worth it). Every Star Trek series has had at least ONE game based on it, Enterprise is due the same honor, only four seasons BS be damned! :honorable:

the only people who would not vote for a MACO game would be the "starfleet is non-military types" or "Starfleet mission is for peaceful exploration...bla bla bla!"

For me, starfleet needs to keep a warrior class( marines,MACO,Section 31), unless the Klingons, Romulans or Jem Hadar would run over the earth.

not true, someone could vote no because the idea is rather unoriginal.

There are already so many swat games and Republic commando and even Halo.

A Startrek game which mimics all of the 3 above brands isn't going to show and it's Startrek and people won't buy it for that reason alone.

IT APPEARS THAT SOME PEOPLE DO NOT VALUE OTHER PEOPLES OPINION.  IAM NOT CLLING ANY NAMES, BUT I FELL THAT IN THE 23RD. CENTURY, HUMANS WOULD FIND TO AGEE TO DISAGREE. I THINK THAT A MACP GAME WOULD SELL WELL AMOUNG, STAR TREK FANS.  NOT ALL STAR TREK FANS ARE ALIKE. I WISH SOME ONE WOULD TELL THESE TREK gods THAT STARFLEET HAVS A PLACE FOR EVERONE!!!!!!!!

SOME OF US ARE WARRIORS TO HEART!! AND SOME WHAT TO BE SCIENCE OFFICERS, BUT WE ALL ARE TREK FANS. TELL ONE FAN THAT THERE IS NO ROOM FOR TYPE OF CLASS OR GAME IS STUPID!!!!  NOT ALL OF US ARE 13 YEAR OLD KIDS WHO WANT TO SEE DEATH, BLOOD AND WOULD SHOOT EVERTHING IN SITE!

ITS SO FUNNY THAT SOME OF YOU THINK THE STARFLEET IS A PEACE LOVING GOVERNMENT WHO ONL WANTS TO SPREAD GOOD THROUGH OUT THE ALPHA QUAD.  STARFLEET HAS ITS ROOTS IN THE OLD EARTH NAVAL AND MILITARY AND ALWAYS WILL.

SO IAM SPEAKING FOR ALL OF US WHO LIKE THE MILITARY SIDE OF STARFLEET TO KEEP POSTING AND I HOPE  THAT WE WILL GET A MARINE CLASS IN THE SECOND ADDITION OF STO!

KEEP POSTING WARRIORS!

If they have no interest, then why are they reading the post and voting? I agree to a point but, I have no interest in purchasing "Halo" or "Republic Commando" because, it's not Enterprise and I already have enough FPS as it is (MOHAA,BF1942,JKII,EFI&II,Battlefront). Believe me, they can make a MACO-themed game superior in gameplay and style to "Halo" if they chose to. Only if the gameplay is really, really good, it might be able to sway the Elite Force veterans into getting it (whether they like Enterprise or not.). Some unique features that aren't overly complicated like, squad commands, squat/prone moves, variety of weapons (and enemies) and a different ending or story based on difficulty (I insist on this feature, it would take away some of the worry about replay value but, increase the workload for the designers.) would make the game stand out. As for multi-player, lose the "pick-up weapon as you're walking along" style and go with the one primary weapon with back-up (MOHAA-style) and add objective modes (hey, I'm talking like Riker now.). I think that's the multi-player set-up that most FPS players prefer or at least brings longevity to multi-player (MOHAA still going strong.)IMHO. Sorry to the two guys who voted no.
