TNG: - The Best Of Both Worlds 1 & 2
TNG: - Time's Arrow 1 & 2
TNG: - Descent 1 & 2
TNG: - All Good Things 1 & 2
DS9: - Emissary 1 & 2
DS9: - The Homecoming + The Circle + The Siege
DS9: - The Jem'Hadar + The Search 1 & 2 (as Triple feature-length movie)
DS9: - What You Leave Behind 1 & 2
VOY: - Caretaker 1 & 2
VOY: - Scorpion 1 & 2 + The Gift (which completes Scorpion 1 & 2 into a Triple feature)

Three levels of DVD release if Paramount insists with those Whole Season Sets that I don't care for

Stage 1: (all)
28 seasons sets release I thought was ridiculouse from the start and would be even more years in the future

Stage 2: (best)
Best Of most essentials episodes Series sets, possibly including best double & triple feature as TV movie versions

Stage 3: (few)
Best double & triple feature as TV movie versions as separate DVD release

Stage 2 & 3 would be what stores would end up with in the end, as many just don't want the have 28 season sets of Star trek, and repeat the same process for all other TV series they likes, Frasier, Seinfeld, Star Gate, X-File... and end up with 1,000,001 DVD season sets, discs that might not be functional in 5 to 10 years

Also in sets, still each disc should stand alone no matter what, and should never happen situations like on the Borg Set where Voyager: Scorpion 1 & 2 are split on 2 discs and without the conclusion THE GIFT which would have been better than the lame Drone story

I couldn't resist the Time-Travel DVD set. - But I don't want to run into cross-over episodes being repeated on DVD sets. - Why can't we order custom sets of favorite episodes?

And what is with the fourth disc only has one episode on it!?!

Regarding Alternate Realities:

I totally agree!!!!

Alternate realities would be ideal as the next theme! (This would also cover Parallell Universes as well) I think the TNG Fan Col., Voy Fan Col.   etc....along with Data Fan Col are good ideas (so no insults intended) but these collections are meant to span most or all of the series in one set in each theme.

There are a number of alternate reality eps from TOS - Enterprise. So I agree that it would be the next logical choice that would span the most of the Star Trek universe.

I also think the Holo Deck Fan Col. is a decent idea as well, the only downside is that it would not offer anything from TOS or Enterprise.

I personally think there should also be a Time Travel Part 2 Fan Col. There are an endless amount of Tome Travel eps. There were some big ones that didn't make the cut. I have already read response from people saying "what about this episode?....What about that episode?.....How could they not have included ?" The Time Travel Theme still has a lot of candidates. I hope they see that and do a Time Travel Part 2....I would DEFINITELY buy it!

What do you guys think?

Anyone know when/if they might survey again for future themes?

Your approach works perfect for me. Already we have some eps. being repeated on the fan collective editions. I understand the "theme" idea but  to keeping things simple and selling best of boxes from each series works perfect.

I really want quite a few episodes on DVD, but to drop the $$ for all the season boxes from all five shows is over $2 grand.

FWIW they did it right with the X-FILES. You can buy all 9 seasons in full boxsets or purchase the four mini-boxes of the mythology eps (60 total eps and 16 total discs). I plopped the $$ down for the mythology boxes and didn't look back.

I suspect many of us would love to purchase best of mini boxes of all five series. Hell I dodn't care for Enterprise but a $30 mini box would get me the few eps that were decent.

based with previews VHS separate sales for what was release
and separate DVD sales
and reorders
all crossed with
important vital moments
and fans feedback
and rating through out the years...

I think Paramount already has all the information necessary to make a pretty good selection that will please to the most fans

I give DS9 & Voyage a little more space as the series with the most interesting moments, but possibly leaving out the double & triple features for separate movie style release, leaving fans a little selective freedom there, or make 5 or 6 disc sets max for the most popular series like Next Generations & DS9 all in one final definitive compact collection set, Enterprise with only 4 seasons could remain 4 disc sets and have plenty of selection for every fans

Deep Space Nine was the least release in those collective sets, so personally I would love to start with those as Voyagers was well covered some released twice already and the classics all got separate release

my favorites that include all the TV pilots and final episodes and most important Double features

A finale definitive ultimate DVD set collection would be best using good old common sense with obvious key important moments like pilots and series finals, important double & triple feature events, but also some fans favorites, the Star Trek episodes guide has ratings and feedback or at least it did the last time I checked, and through with the years official polls were made as well

If I were in the place of Paramount video I would find it much simpler to carry 5 series best of all series orderly than to try to go by them repeating over and over or carrying 28 full seasons sets

One last thing, bonus material, it would be interesting in these STAR TREK ULTIMATE DEFINITIVE DVD SETS to leave the space of one episode at the end of the final set disc NOT for an episode, but for ONLY bonuses, specially BLOOPER, behind the scene, important interviews, the making off... that kind of stuff

I wish the Books and Product list was more active. With no new TREK on TV and the movie 2 years away this thread should be pumping.

Maybe this could have a 2 collection set:

1st- Only episodes from the Mirror Universe

2nd Most famous Alternate realities, including the Mirror Universe. Here are just a couple of suggestions on what should be included:

Ent.: Twilight, E2 (E squared)

VOY: Living Witness* (one of may favorites.)

TNG: (the episode with Q and Picard's Heart), All Good Things..., Parallels, Yesterday's Enterprise, ¿Future Imperfect

DS9: hmmm? any ideas on that one?

*=this could have been set in the Mirror universe, if the Terran Empire hadn't collapsed.

The "Time Travel" was ok, except for one thing. There were not enough Voyager episodes, someone didn't put in the "The Future's End", and "Relativity". "The Year of Hell", you could of easily done with out.

As for the others, I would go for the Q, and the Borg being most favorites.

A Best of From Each Series Works For Me.

I can't believe DS9 is getting so little episodes on fan collections sets.  DS9 was the best written of all the Trek series.

but hey thats ok, I own DS9 seasons 3-6 which are so awesome.
