Will They be like Phasers in the Shows where one shot stuns or will it be like ST: Elite force where you have to constantally shoot the person before they get fraged/ stunned?
What would you like to see?

I for one would hate to be one-shotted. In "reality" unless you have some form of protection (shields, armor etc) a focused beam of energy would certainly do a great deal of damage. I think they will have to make the damage scalable to the characters attributes and equipment. But saying that...I dont care who you are, getting hit with a photon torpedo should kill you dead..in one hit..no chance..give it up.

Ye get hit in an arm and its harder to aim. In the leg and you slow down. In the head and you fall and have to stand back up. Thats why I would like. 4-5 shots before you die. I hope the fights have phaser fire all over the place. I for one will be creating a smart laser show at every battle.

hmm what if you're on a mission and you encounter the breen. What if they put thier weapons on Bore? how would you recover from that? I really dont think Dermal Regenerators will help..

Since they are NPCs, Perpetual could give the Breen a reason not to outright kill you, only hurt you enough that you get a chance to go back to the ship to be healed.
Also, one thing. I believe phaser damage for players should be two non-critical hits and you are down, or one more critical hit. Think Rainbow 6 type damage. You may survive a hit if you are lucky, but two or three is out of the question. Combat should be, in my opinion, more tactical and less run and gun.

I'm leaving all FPS decisions to the FPS experts. Do whatever you need to do to lure the HALO2, HALO 3, Counterstrike, etc. crowd over. Even for a couple of weeks.
Why would we want that twitchy crowd as our security? One. They are awesome fighters. I have tried for years to be a good FPS player...but no way. These guys are masters and would make the best security.
Two: They made the investors 125 million by dinner time on release day.
Sure we may get juvies...but everyone could have to go through the Academy and by graduation they would know that not all behavior will be tolerated.

When it comes to this sort of thing, I can last just as long as anyone in a firefight, but i'm more mission oriented.

Just give it the startrek feel. You know, fights behind cover (rocks corridors). One shot 'kills' are a obvious choice (like in the series and films). But hitting something seems to be hard in startrek, so that should be the case in the game too.
What's worrying me are the weapons. It is said you casn modify them. I can already see the weird kind of weapons that don't fit in any of star treks cultures. If you can tweak a weapon, that's fine with me, but they should keep the 'starfleet look' (same for the ships).
(As a matter of fact: in elite force I and II always prefered the starfleet weapons)
