To humor myself, I am wondering how many are actually betting on a stable, 100% functional full release (I do not mean perfict, as MMPORG's never are. even Anarchy Online still gets patches, and that game started a while ago) and how many believe this game will be bug-full at first go, requiring more work.
On the final release, I mean, not beta.
Please do not take this as anything against Perpetual, I am estatic that this game is being developed and have full belief that it will be the game to jumpstart trek gaming and clans, just wondering about the communities view.

First, Its far too early to make any assumption based on the facts available to us. The release of WoW is what I consider a functional release, and I believe that Perpetual will give us a functional, (mostly) complete product.

Like the others said, its really too early to say, but I'm betting on a fairly stable game on release, although I'm pretty sure there will need to be a fair ammount of tweaking, just like with every other MMORPG out there

I'm hoping for a stable good game off the bat, but expecting a merely mediocre initial product.

WoW a functional release? is that why they gave me a free week for putting up with their first month of err 'service'? That coupled with the lack of battlegrounds, no honor system and user made interface mods being a thousand times more useful than anything brought out by blizzard made it quite the buggy release for me.
I don't mind server issues, i do mind when a company says they're bringing certain things to a game then don't. Now we get ONE battleground and only a promise to attempt to implement the honor system. That to me is just as buggy as the game not working which WoW is actually also notorious for, i have NEVER BEFORE spent over 10 hours attempting to install a game, now that i have WoW i can say that i HAVE! you should never be required to format and install in safe mode just for a game to MAYBE work.

I'm betting that when the game releases, it will be so full of bugs, that cockroaches will start popping out of the screen

WoW was NOT a functional release. CoH was one of the best releases, the only real "hitch" was the one hour delay for the three day head start. Even that wasn't a big deal compared to some *other* MMOs (SWG). Did I mention CoH is getting PvP in the next free expansion due out in a month or so? Buy it now! Sorry..little excited..hehe Anyway, if purpetual does the testing, and dosen't get lazy on us then it'll be a good launch. If they DO get lazy on us, well lets just say that isn't the way to get new people into a game which has as much of a stigma attached to it as a Star Trek game (Face it, almost every game was just a little box of disapointment with few exceptions).

I'd say the most functional release was CoH... but then again... they had their downsides too. Every MMO has had a patch to fix things they didn't uncover in beta within the first 48 hours... Usually around 3-4 patches within 1-2 weeks. I don't see any reason why STO wouldn't be the same

just so long as they don't ninja patch everything like blizzard likes doing. "ahh let 'em find out in a few days when they try to use that spell/ability/item. they wont care that it doesnt work now and gets them killed because they werent told about it! yeah great idea that is!"
