The future for me sometime seems like a scary place. What are we doing that will make is a safe, happy place for our children? Will there be any good jobs for our childrens future? With everything that has happened in the past it seems to me that in order for us to get a future like star trek where one can do want one wants. Be anything one wants and not have to worry about money or the weather- which I like the most, it snow here last night-. is for the whole planet we call earth to suffer a very big loss. Be it war, globe warming like we haven't seen before, another ice age for the northern countrys. Something that makes us-- as a race of human people not Canadians or American, English, Frence, Arabs or white, black or blue for that matter---take all the resouces that we have as a planet and use them to move this planet into the star trek furture we want. But in doing this money must go. I believe in order for us to go forward and get are peaceful planet we must take a thousand steps backwards in order to take that million mile leap into the future that we all so wish for.

there is a 1 in 100 chance that we will have warp drive within the next century, and for NASA thats pretty good odds, AND that is not factoring in technological upgrades. There is also a 1 in 1(too many zero's, could literally cover the entire area of the Empire stat building in zeros) that we will have intergalactic travel in one millenium! but its still a good chance for NASA!

I like to know where you came up with those odd. As it stand the principle of a Warp drive is well known to NASA ( and Physicists) the Problem is the generation or creation of the negative energy.

Everyone's positive intellect is always welcome. I will not criticize.
People who hide behind views of freedom of speech usually decide to use negative criticism with tinges of taking advantage of the use of freedom of speech to put others down.
We shouldn't be interrogating others. If anything we should be open minded investigate for ourselves what is good about the information. If really that concerned.

If all of the worlds resources, money, and knowledge were all focused on Research and Development---just imagine what even 50 years of that kind of scientific focus could yield??

We are marching towards a Star Trek future.

As long as there will always be democracy.

As long as there will always be freedom of speech.

As long as humankind has faith that a better world is possible without
having to fight wars about it.

As long as science and technology are respected as our greatest tools.

As long as no one forces me to accept another person's ideology at the
point of a gun.

As long as decent people work truthfully for a better future for our children.

As long as the spirit of Star Trek captivates the human imagination.

Horatio, you must never have read "Gullivan's Travels", or caught it on the Sci if Channel.

There was one of the many poeple that Gullivan visited did just that, The Academy that was formed and led to the Destruction of their land.

Not to Belittle anyone, but I thing you guys are being a bit naive.. Rob's view of the future was not a perfect place, the original series was very much like the 1960's world that it was created in. Man had not changed much, money, greed, ignorant and pride still ruled.

The Next Generation Trek is very different, it a nicer kinder place but it still as filled with the man's faults and failings.

The Future will be a very different place and the ideal world we imagine will never come into existant.

The future of man will be the changed of mind, body and even morals and the will be alter in ways that would render all present concepts into the waste paper bin of history.

I have seen the future and it both beautiful and horrible... :bored:

You must be referring to the transhumanist principle of
transformation of the individual through the coming technologies of cyber-genetics, bioregeneration, symbiotic
neural-computer interface, complete neural network upload
into cyberspace in any range of facilitated mediums, and
proper holographic porn.

  Hopefully before the comet hits.

But all within our lifetime.  Scary to some.  Nirvana to
others.  I also have seen the future.  See you at the
upload center in about forty years, best earliest projection.

  Infinite levels.  Live forever.
