To add to the subject.. I read in a magazine that they figured out a way to transport an object a few feet away using some sort of vacumm which compressed the atoms and sent them through a tube. I think the object was reconstructed but I am not sure.

and where did this article appeared?...

I think he's talking about the trasportation of a laser beam...where they encoded some info in it and then transported it like two feet away...the one thats spawned a million "Transporters are hear!!!" topics....and my fav the one with the guy saying that will have transporters in 20 years, because they arn't that hard to build.

Oh another article about Quantum Entanglement ;)

that okay, I felt the same way about Fusion thru the Cavitation of Deutrium bubbles. Two positive result and yet no fusion reactors. So I feel for all the teleportation fans..

I suppose you're talking about my idea. The one that was torn apart and shown as not possible by a wide variety of people. The original idea wasn't too hard to do but a few minor problems like it contravened accepted laws of physics made it unfeasible.

The idea was torn apart by many a person so don't bring that idea into it. I accept it wouldn't work. I didn't see you offering anything really constructive (for or against my idea) anyway. Anyway, I think I solved enough of the problems put against it to get a little respect.

And it should be "Transporters are HERE!!!", not "hear". And aren't, not arn't. And transportation, not trasportation.

wooow Zinc, we already covered the whole "How could you teleport an object" subject.

The fact is that Quantum Teleportation is not the kind of Teleportation that would allow you to move around a person.

You can transport information, but the only advantage in using this method is that it would form a link that cannot be easedrop on or could code data in a way that can not be broken without the Key.

It was hope ( and still is) that it could one day create a FTL telephone between two points, but most experiment have disproved this..

yes zinc i was talking about your post.  And while all your ideas were torn apart, I didn't see you gaining any respect.  You didn't solve any of your problems you just jumped on the bandwagon of someone elses idea.  And while i'm not a physicist I do have a good enough understanding of the theories and how things work to know what idea is more doable than another.  So tell you what...I'll go and relearn my grammer and spelling, and you go back and take a few physics classes so next time you can spout some stuff that makes sense.

i just do not understand why any person is so dum?, it can be dun to build a star ship on land first. it is the only way to do it to fine out if it will work first on land. a lot of the persons who posted a answer on this page, they are not a hard core star trek person. when i was about 12 years old i ask my dad if i can build a star ship?, he sid yes it can be dun. if a person don't give up. it takes time think it out on paper then put it out on the computer and then work on it. i have the same idea to but i will be useing the same thing that is already on paper. but if thire is no hard core sci fi fans please do not answer with a pore answer. i like to tell you that i am working on this now. my e-mail is kenny17@surewest.net, i look for hard to fine photos of the inside of the star ship from the outside to inside, everything in photos and film from the T.V. SHOW from the 1966 to 1968.

A starship on land   Look it depends on how the ship work. If we are talking Slower than light, using an atomic or fuison rocket, then we not going to test in on the planet.

Even so call warp engine would have the Potential of shattering the planets.

Computer simulation are useful, but they only test for factors that the programmer can think of, physical testing would sill be needed to catch glitches that no designer could have planned for.

It's unlikely we'd build the spaceship on the planet... probably be like the space station, connect the pieces in orbit.
IMO it's unlikely we'll be building anything resembling a space ship in this century. And I'll give you the primarily reason: No reason to. Unless spaceship has many definitions I'm not aware of, I'm thinking spaceship correlates with starship right? Meh I think we might build small vessels if you consider those things spaceships. But than again it all depends on what you define as a spaceship.  :rookie:

how bad do you want to see a star ship to be built on land and to see how it can work with all type of metals to use on the ship?, i do know that if i talk to the right person at the world sci fi convention the question. if the right person answer this question with out a blank answer he or they will pass this around to others. P.S most people will not like to see this star ship to be built. everyone can see my e-mail use it and we can talk more about it. i will like to here more from you all like to see this?.
