I ask this because of the technology, and races we are expected to know/meet. Prime directive, holodecks, and transporter issues

The time frame would changed things considerably.

Thank you

P.S. Time Frame meaning Date

"Which time period or series does this game occur in?
The game will take place primarily in the 24th Century. However, there will be missions with storylines and characters from much of the Star Trek franchise."

I know, thanks... the question is still interesting though.

I would be interested in the Original Series but the DS9 series has much more to do about war and the need for officers was great. meaning
( lots of newbie slots for advancement )
( lots of war like assignments instead of charting stars and comets )

I think we'll find the timeline isn't chronologically perfectly. You might get a mission fighting the Dominion and then get called to join the fleet defending Earth when the Borg attack.

I think we have to assume there are going to be some liberties taken with the timeline.  ie: There's going to be more than 2 Borg attacks on Earth.

Inclusion of the dominion war, either by expansion or shipping with it, could open up new ship classes and allow more combat-oriented missions.  I'd cry if you couldn't command klingon or romulan ships by then, though.  Their inclusion before the dominion war is essential imo.  Could be one hell of a 2-3 year planned set of expansions.

I think to avoid continuity issues like SWG had, the game should be set after the events in Nemesis. That way the devs wont have to worry about who did what in that certain timeline and how it would affect events in game.

i think a large part of ppl wanting to be a part of the star trek universe is living so to speak through events we have witnessed through the show for me ds9 covers it fantastically right from the show emissary through to what you leave behind there was good continuity. and it bridged TNG and voyager together brilliantly afterall we saw picard give sisko command and we also saw the maquis in the last season of TNG start to stand out and theres voyager also who goes missing not long into DS9 we have 3 series in 1 time frame for me that would be foolish not to use the amount of content available there is astounding

for me personally i would like the game to start from all good things and progress from there

its a quiet period giving ppl time to get to know the game lvl up etc a month later we can start to see the dominion threat appear 4 months later we can be in a full blown war with the klingons or dominion it depends how faithful you wanna stay to the story line

or we can start right at the end of nemesis and let perpetual take it from there they would certainly have artisic licenseing on there side then. but im a ds9 nut and wanna live through that entire period would imagine alot of ppl would like to live through there favourite series.

More than likely we will see missions set in every timeframe of the ST Universe given the range of the license Perpetual have been awarded.

Would be very interesting if they started the game off in the time of Enterprise.   All the empires getting a footing in space. and as time progresses they add content to reflect new ships, new technologies ect.      If you think about it Dev Wise it would allow the devs more time to create and add content as well as an ability to have expansions.     It also would give the game more longingevity (and no I cnat spell well) If the game was to progress along the star trek time line.

Also I dont think specifics are realy needed in the game such as the dominion war.    TO place such specifics in the game would be to create too narrow of a story line in which we already know the out come.   better to build the universe and a general story line and  let our imaginations run wild among the stars
