Join as a Starfleet or Marine OfficerAll individuals desiring to become Officers must undergo a 30 day assessment period. During this time the Cadet is required to read four different writings based off of specific subjects that are important for those who will become Officers and eventually leaders. Additionally the Cadet is required to exhibit a reasonable level of activity during those 30 days, through forum posts with substance and participation in crew meetings. This post describes the process you need to follow in order to become an Officer.
1. Application Submission
Those desiring to join Starfleet Academy and pursue the path of an Officer, must submit an enrollment application .

If you do not currently use a proper name, just note in your recruitment thread that you wish your name changed to said name. 3. Academy testing
Each week the Cadet will be required to read and learn different writings, ranging from academic subjects to problem-solving situations, all pertaining relevant topics for Starfleet officers. At any time during the week, the cadet may request being tested in the readings by replying to the thread named Schedule testing in the Academy forum. The Cadet will not be promoted to the next week of readings before the test has been completed, which means that the assessment period of 30 days may be extended if a Cadet neglects to request a test before the end of the designated week.
After the request to be tested, the Cadet will be contacted by a representative from Starfleet Academy with the purpose of setting up a time for a live test through a messenger system. This is done to ensure that the reading material have been read and understood and that the Cadet doesnt have to look up the answers. For the same reason, answers to the questions must be given 30-60 seconds after the question has been asked, depending on the nature of the question.
The tests will all have right and wrong answers and will as such produce a grade. The Cadet needs a score of at least 75% in order to graduate from the Academy.
IF the cadet completes all four tests and the over all assessment is approved, they will be promoted to Ensign and assigned to the requested department if the department is open for assignment. Unless under special circumstances, no graduate will be assigned in Chief or Assistant positions, as they need to prove their leadership skills, knowledge in the department, and must retain the appropriate rank.
IF a cadet's final score for all four week tests is a failing grade, they will not be able to continue, will be removed from Starfleet Academy, and can not join the crew as an Officer. But, they may proceed to joining as an Enlisted member if they do so choose. If your 30 month assessment period was approved but only your failing final grade disallowed your admittance as an Officer, choosing to become Enlisted at this point you will not be required to under go another 30 day assessment but you will immediatly be assigned as an Enlisted member, with the rank of Crewman Apprentice. If during your assessment period you showed great enthusiasm, extrordany effort and other higher standards, it will be up to the command to make the decision to advance you to the rank of Crewman.

4. Conclusion
As it is displayed, it takes great effort and dedication to become an Officer aboard the USS Valkyrie. Only those who have the dedication, willingness to participate, knowledge required, respect and contribution will successfully join the crew.
1. Each Cadet must pass all four of the tests with a satisfactory grade.
2. All Cadets are expected to participate a great deal during this month of assessment. You will be assessed by the commitment, dedication, participation and willingness to take part in crew discussions.
If you do not feel you will be able to complete what it will take to become an Officer, you are able to enlist as a Crewman.
