I've heard the word potential so many times on the SWG boards. I only hope they exploit that potential for the better of the game.

No, we will not abide liars who are only out to slander a game they did not like.  Its fine to have opinions, but do not make up blatent lies to support your views.  Not to mention this was not the form to air those views in the first place.  It was right that he was jumped on.  By all means express your views, but do so in a respectful manner, in the proper forms, and do not resort to petty tactics to get you point across.

I have a friend who is in the JTL beta. And he also didn't like it. He couldn't go into specifics (again NDA) but his overall comment was that JTL felt like a totally different game from SWG and that it was little less than any of your various console X-wing games out there.

Between that and the whole Jedi issue, he cancelled his account. Mine ended about 3 months ago and I had stated almost 7 months ago that I will be VERY surprised if SWG is still operating in the black come '06.

Oh, and for the person who suggested CoH for those long 'years' ahead, I'd say long weeks as most gamers I know get bored with it in under 3 months.

Chill out please. Yes, I was in the beta. I started playing when SWG came out. Played a few months and then quit cause it was boring. I came back this year and played for another 6 months. I received my beta invite like last week. I played for maybe 30-45 minutes. I did not care for how the whole space expansion combat was and just flying around in general was. If you want to believe me..fine. If not, dont. If anyone was in beta look for my posts on the beta board. Im Danubus there too. I played in a roleplaying guild on Tempus called Red Phoenix and I was a master architect/artisan/merchant. After playing for the time I did and being not a fan of PVP, the game got old fast. I went into beta hoping to be wow'd by shipwright or rebel pilot, but as I said after the time I played I decided it wasnt fun and not right for me. I got out, deleted my beta files, and then canceled my SWG account.

I can see some of you are very passionate about things you like, and thats great. I came back here to see the other posts and then found some of you upset because I said I was in a beta and didnt like it. Whats wrong with having an opinion? Yeah, maybe I could have played longer, but after putting up with SWG for the time I did and being mostly bored to death in the regular game I was hoping beta would spark some interest for me to stay. It didnt. I was honest here and its just my opinion.

Dude, I did not lie one bit. I wasnt slandering a game either. I expressed an opinion and then left the thread. Your the one freaking out. Relax pal. If you cant handle it then im sorry.

Oh and Ellessar. Dont lecture me about beta testing, pal. Ive been a veteran beta tester since the early days of EQ Live. I've beta tested a number of games and gave bug reports and my opinion on what could help the game or whats hindering it. Im not in a game to just play. Im there to work and make the game as best as it can be. Im not some kid that is just happy to get in so they can run around and tell people their playing in a beta. So, again, when you know what your talking about then you can berrate me.

One other thing Ellessar. I've noticed you have a problem with a number of people here on the forums. Its usually you spouting something at them, because you feel strongly about something and dont agree with them. Its fine to not agree, but its not fine for you to cross the line and start smarting off to them. You have done it in other threads and need to stop it. We are a community here and we should try and build this community up. If you have problems with people in the future take it to PMs. Trying to prove your right and upsetting people on the forums isnt worth it.

Im here because I love Star Trek and I hope I can get into beta down the road to help them make the best game they can. So, again, relax to those that are freaking. I didnt realize people would be upset about a few comments I made and was telling the truth.

I think that ppl were a little amazed that you only played for 30mins and decided it was boring, thats all. I'm not calling you a liar, i have nothing to base on to judge JTL as i'm not a beta tester. I have to admit that just lately i'm getting abit bored with SWG, I'm deciding whether or not i want to continue. Probably will, cause even with all it flaws, its not that bad. I have definately played worse.

I think we all want this community to be flame free, but ppl's passion can run pretty high on certain subjects. I just hope these boards don't turn into a repeat of the SWG ones.

Many in the community know me by now and know that I do flame members of the community in fact I try and keep the peace . I had to make these statements in response to this post though.  Pleas read this and know that I am not flaming this member but I upset as a tester.  Danubus I do not want to start a fight I hope that you can vlew this with an open mind.

Your story does not jive for so many reasons.  I could give a flying leap less if you liked it or not I don't play a game because someone likes it.  I like to play games that people don't like so that I can learn from them.  I am upset as a BATA TESTER.  I am a veteran bata tester I have tested 7 MMO's to date and a few other types of games.  I am currently in 2 up and coming  MMO's Focus bata tests.

Why would you come back if it was boring and why would you think that JTL would be any different.  They probably are designing for a different type of player than you are.

In that amount of time you would have only had about 10-20 min of actual flying time. That is if you got trained, got a droid, found a launch point that was not occupied, and if you were the already knew all the controls for the ships.

How would you know you did not give it enough time to legitimately grade the game?  It takes at least a week playing time to legitimately get the feel of a MMO.  That is like logging on to STO for 45 minutes and saying Ahhh this sucks(whin it comes out).

Once again I have a resume of games that I can send to developers that is impressive. All of which I have Focus tested not open tested.  Stating that you are a VET bata tester then stating that you walked away and said that a game was boring after 30-45 minutes just does not sit well with a bata tester.  You walked away and did nothing then came here and trashed the game that is in development.  You said you treat bata testing as a job and send in your reports to help make a game as good as it can be.  It appears you really tried to help JTL.  I dont know about you but I have had some boring jobs yet I showed up for more then 45min to see if they were really boring.

I am sorry but I don't want you in bata for very legitimate reasons.  Bata slots are going to come slow and rare and for all I know you will take you slot and play for 45 min and walk away.  Go to the newest games msg boards and say how much it sucked.  This will not help STO nor will it be fare to some that really would help to improve the game. As a bata tester you cant say a game sucks or is boring because the game is in bata.  This meant that it is under development.  Many games do not release the content till the game is actually released so that there are not leeks about things to do in game.  This will not help the game it did not help JTL.  If you notice I have not said anything about you calling SWG boring because the game is live and you have a right to state your opinions about a LIVE game.  To call a game that is in bata boring after playing for 45min is naive at best.  The game is in development; meaning that it is in need of improvement.  If it did not need improvement it would be released so that they can make MONEY!


I am sorry STO community but as a bata tester I could not let this one pass. Do not listen to people that make statements like this.  It is as bad as the people that will come here and say that STO will suck when it is 2 years away from even bata testing.  Trust me community; people will come here and say that STO sucks.  I have seen it many times before.  It has upset many members of the boards thinking that it was from a bata tester.

Actually it is quite important.  It shows the importance of a tester.  When you test you are not there to play a game for FREE.  You are there to help the game.  I hope that members that will be applying for Alpha/Bata slots will read this post and feel the importance of testing and not take it for granted.
