Wow this will be one amazing game! when the Startrek online MMORPG ships I will be forced to cancel both my accounts in Starwars galaxies to get this!

yeah the beta will be in 2006 their cheif..... and we all had some point in time anticipated Star Trek Online.

Jump to Lightspeed. Its the expansion to SWG and it sucks. I tried it out and it bored me within 30 minutes. Canceled my account that game is so boring.

So you were in beta....u just breached the nda....and hten cancelled the aco#### because u didnt find beta good...hmmm..

I actually didnt breach NDA because people can say if their in the beta or not. I played SWG for over 6 months this time and like 2 months before. Getting into the JTL beta wasnt a big thing for me because I wasnt planning on still playing SWG. When I got in I found the new expansion boring. Played it only 30 minutes till I found Id rather go roleplay in my NWN community of ALFA or something.

Also dont expect any beta testing of it for a year and half or so.

Beta testing is when developers put together a group to play through the game normally and provide feedback, report bugs, ect. Usually Beta's are closed meaning that only specially selected people get in (usually only in first phases of beta for MMO's). During this time Beta Testers sign an NDA menaing they can't say anything about the game, or else be lible for a lawsuit. Also usually, theier are a lot of bugs and errors which can be so bad as to make the Beta unplayable for times.

Anyway, afer a while in closed beta devs usally make it "Open" (where you sign up, and they lets lots and lots of people in). this is very near the end and is used to stress test the servers and find out maximum capacity, and whether or not the infrastructure is sound.

So essentiallty, yes. Its a rough draft

BTW, saying it "sucks" dosen't really violate the NDA to a great degree, and either way SWG was a bad game from the day it was launched and wil be until they hire a new dev team (which won't happen. Ever.).

Most beta users are long term vets of more than a year of SWG play. They gave few beta slots to newer guys. Ther ewas only one way to get a slot in beta if you were new. lets see if you can name it for me.

Second 30mins in a game is harldy any time to judge it. In 30mins what did you do? I'm actually in beta. In 30 mins what were you able to get your intial loaner ship and maybee do one mission in space?

Don't come here and start bashing other games because you didn't like them or you never got jedi or whatever your gripe is. I agree SWG has buggs, but this is not the form to express them. Go complain in the SWG forms or the JTL beta forms.

And BTW beta is a place to work on the games problems. If the game sucks then you are supposed to say it so they can make changes. ANd odn't say it never happens. Saga of Ryzom went back into developlemnt for 3 months becasue they had bad open beta reviews. Your kind of attitude (if you are even telling the truth about being in JTL beat) is only counter productive to the beta process.

agreed with admrial_h and ellessar. This guys statement does not pass the smell test. I have been playing for 14 months and got my invite because of being a VET. The game is fun, yes it has bugs, thay seem to be working prety franticly getting them smothed out. IT is beautiful and all I can say is I will be wooping things in space with my large hut fighter till STO comes out.

Plus the fact that he didn't back up his claim with any evidence of why exactly it sucked. Like you said Ellessar 30mins in an MMOG is not long enough to judge a game, it takes me 30mins just to start to do something in SWG, I think that shows you how big the game is.

I wish that I had beta for JTL

30 mins is no time in an MMO. You need to be exposed to a game for at least several hours before you can make decesions. There is so much contnet in an MMO that even a few hours barley scratches the surface most of the time. Especilly in SWG which takes a bit longer to get moving once you log in becasue of travel/buffs/etc.

Though, all I can really say about JTL accoring to the NDA is that I think it is pretty good so far. There are some issues of course. But there are always issues with MMOs when they go live. I don't think that people will be disappointed with JTL. It probably will revitalize the game. What they do with that revitilization from there is up to them. But there is potential.
