Star Trek: The Neutral Zone (v2.0)Screen One Screen Two Screen ThreeThis is a great, freeware, arcade Trek game that was created by Kresimir Spes of Cateia Games in 2003. It reminds me very much of a freeware game called "ThunderZone" back in the early '90s for DOS, and going farther back, "SpaceWar". Being an arcade game, the goal is to rack up as many frags as possible against computer and/or human opponents. All ships, regardless of design, have the same specifications and performance. There are also cool power-ups that randomly appear on the playfield to make things more interesting. You can not only pick your ship's name and design, but perhaps best of all, you can play with friends over a direct IP connection! I highly recommend this game for everyone! IIRC, this is the best Trek arcade game I have ever played! Even better, though, a sequel is already in production with many more features. -DOSMAN

I'm glad you like the game before anyone starts downloading, i should point out to two possible errors: 1) if the installation program doesn't start, download the zipped version from http://www.cateia.com/tnz.zip2) if the game runs unusualy slow, then it's most likely that you need to install new drivers for your display card. BTW: a web page and a development log for the sequel will be completed in a few weeks P.S. : if anyone ever succeeds playing over the internet, please let me know, i have a 56k connection and have never been able to play my own game online

Great game!!
I had to Download a newer DirectX to get it to work, but it was worth is. In the next one, the only thing I would like to see is the ships acually have differences, and have a "Prome" on it.

^There are no servers--direct IP only. If you have a broadband connection and a fast computer, you could host a game and point friends to your IP address, or connect to a game that a friend is hosting.

yeah, me and my friend were playing over direct ip (i got cable, he got DSL, so no problems there) would be better if there were some servers though....

Well it looks interesting, the shields remind me of SFC3. Is it just a frag match, or does the single player have anything more?

^Just a "frag match" with the computer, with others (keyboard second player, LAN, Direct IP), or a combination of both.

I got a problem with the mouse. It only moves a tiny bit and is stuck in a tiny portion of the upper left side of the screen

^The actual gameplay doesn't use the mouse, but the interface does beforehand. I'll let the developer know....
