I'm not going to meet Patrick Stewart this weekend, but I wish I was. However, I've been wondering what you could possibly say to an actor in a convention that wouldn't make you sound like a totally obsessed star trek worshipper? I'd love to hear from people who do meet him about their conversation and impressions.

Well - this is a great question for me. In a few weeks I am going to my first convention and if everything goes well... I will get to meet Leonard Nimoy, my favorite actor. Now, I have been racking my brain with something to say that would sound half way intelligent....and let him know how much of a fan of his I am...... a thought..... like telling him how I've been a fan of his for a long time and how much I enjoy his work.....maybe mention something that he has done that is NOT star trek related.... that may impress him ..... What do you think????

I had him sign my sketch of him as Captain Picard. I also gave him -- in-person -- a smaller sketch of just his face with a hand-written letter beside it, telling him exactly how I feel. (I'm not gonna say what I wrote: that's between Patrick Stewart and me )

Enjoy your first convention. (Boldly go! I love Nimoy too. I've always thought of him as a friendly and intellegent but I'm not sure why. I had a huge crush on James Kirk when I was a kid. Now that I'm all grown up I've got a thing for Picard. Must be men in power. Patrick Stewart just emanates confidence and passion. (I recently saw Lion in Winter and was captivated by his performance.) I think your ideas on what to say are good ones. Especially commenting about his work other than star trek. Maybe you could comment about interests you might have in common. I just read Jeannie's reply and think it's incredible to offer something personal like a sketch. (I'm totally curious about what's in the letter though).

Well thanks for the encouragement Stardoc... and I am looking forward to meeting Nimoy... It is funny you mention your huge crush on Kirk. The same for me, when I was a child I was absolutely in love with Capt Kirk. Then I remember seeing tng when it was on in the late 80s and early 90s - I thought Picard was very strong and really had something attractive about him.... But now, I find Nimoy to be truly remarkable!! He's just loaded with talent and has accomplished so much over the years.... not to mention I find him absolutely irresistable.... but back to the con - well - I agree with you - I like Jeannie's comment and idea also.... that is very unique!! I thought about making something for him.... but I can't draw or anything creative like that ..... so I am still thinking....as far as what she wrote on her sketch..... well, I have some thoughts on that.... that for me, would be the easy part... sharing my feelings for Mr Nimoy..... just the making of something would be the difficult part..... Now, I like your idea on saying something about what we might have in common... Well....that is difficutlt.... I don't think we have ANYTHING in common...lol... He has a totally different lifestyle than me... totally! He is very artistic and creative.... I am more practical!!! (I guess in some ways I am more like Spock) - so that would be difficult!! But I will keep thinking...maybe something will come up!!! Thanks for your ideas and encouragement!!! I am so looking forward to seeing him!! Linda
