I am thinking: Minimum: Windows 98 or greater 128 DDR Ram 64 MB Graphics Card (Probably not Radeon user friendly like most Star Trek Games...) Pentium 3
Recommended: 512 MB Ram 128 MB Graphics Card Windows 98 or above Pentium 4
....what you all think?

There is No way to tell this at the moment.
Untill we know what kind of gfx system they will use theres not point in even trying to come up with system specs.
If the game is DX9, a DX9 card would be recomended (or required). The game is due in 3+ years... ALOT can change from now till then.
They said they want to make the game at a mid range from when its released (not cuting edge but mid) however in 3 year, mid range might be Half-Life 2 gfx.

Heh funny, i'm was just writing a thread about gear in 2007. I think the minimum requirements will probably be what the top of the line is today, probably higher. At least 3.4 ghz, gig of RAM, 6800 or X800 series video. Just consider... are the minimum requirements of games today inline with the state of computing in 2001?

Alot in technology can change in 3 years...doesnt mean people will be able to afford new or update systems...many can, but many cant...The system requirements are still going to have to work with lesser comps!

in 3 years time 64 bit processors would be mainstream computing. Also in 3 years time most of the grafix cards would be PCI-E. I I think the reccomendations would be something along the lines of 128meg DX9 card with a 2 gig 32 bit processor and maybe 256 megs of ram. As windoes 98 isnt going to be supported anymore(unless its already been cut from support) I would have to say min requirements would be win2k aswell. Hopefully by then 512 meg gfx cards will be nice and cheap and great advancements would be made

hate to say it but i think EQ2 will Jack up the requirements for MMORPGs, all across the board.
it seems like most companies try to keep the Requirements down to bring in as many people as possible. Not SOE lol 10-12 CDs most likely you will need at least a 2.0ghz with 1 gig of ram and 128mb Video card.

Too much to speculate what it will require. Hell, we havent even got any artworks or their secret development on quicker mmog play without lag will actually suck out from your PC.

I think its safe to say that when the game comes out, most people will be able to play STO on at least the lower settings. Now thats not to say ALL will be able too because lets face it, some hardwear just wont cut it 3 years from now.
Besides once STO is released, the parts needed for a usable pc will be VERY cheap.

look at the requirments for other mmorpgs like star wars galaxies, ect.... they are a fair example as to what you could expect star trek online to have.

I think most games released today, whatever 'minimum specs' they post on their packaging, would struggle to perform on a system of that spec. Face the fact that delays to this game WILL occur, we're looking at sometime around early 2007 and onwards, That will make 98 a decade old operating system. Not a chance on that- 128 MB ram, man, you can't even run XP comfortably on that. Again, it's too early to speculate, but think back to 3 years ago and so on...
