Star Trek What races are playable?

So what races will be playable? The setting is the 24th century but the FAQ says that you will be playing the Federation. So that means Human, Vulcan, Klingon, Orion, Horta..... any else? What race do you want to play?

I'll play Human to start with and then see what else if available.

With no set list its hard to tell what they are planing....

IMO I would say keep away from hostile races to the federation. So you can have your Human, Klingon, Vulcan, Bajorian, Trill and maybe a few others. I would say no borg, Dominion, Founders and other such races. Romulans and Cardassians are iffy but could work out well.

IMO pvp should be avoided at release to focus on story and content, add holodecks for pvp.

Well it says in the FAQ that you'd be playing the Federation. I hope though that it just means you'd be playing IN Federation space and that we can still be people like the Orion pirates.

The FAQ does not say it will be Federation only. In fact it says you will be able to play many races.

Oh contrair, the Federation *has* many races in it, but so far it looks like they are only going to make Starfleet the only military service available.

This tells me that I can play races like the Vulcans, Andorians, Bolians, Bezateds that are often seen in Starfleet. But I can't play a species that operates their own fleets such as Klingon in the Klingon Defensive Force.

I hope this is true. It will save me all that time I would spend playing this game.

Klythe is correct but at this stage "Everything" is subject to change. Give it some time and your most likely be suprised.

All I can say is... Klingon better be a playable race. Otherwise, who am I going to tell all of my "Life of a Klingon Computer Programmer" jokes to?

For the love of the fek'lhr. Do not tell them to me. They are not jokes. I am following the development of Varaq very closely. I'm thinking it might be fun to port it to run on a MUCK. Then my character can do some programming in Klingon, in character.:honorable:

8-bit words are for weaklings and cowards. A TRUE Klingon Code Warrior will not stoop to using anything less than 32-bit!
