In multiple episodes of the different Star Trek series, they stabilize wormholes using different methods. If, and when we get to deal with wormholes, would we be able to stabilize them?

Well the only know way to stabilize a wormhole according to theory is to stuff the mouth of the wormhole with exotic matter ( matter composed of negative energy or negative pressure).

Problem is to use too much exotic matter and the Wormhole explodes forming a New universe, not good for us in the old one.

Actually blackholes are considered closed already, they are one way membranes. Negative energy also effects backholes, as it would drain mass energy from the gravity field of Blackhole causing the hole to shrink.

This is what happen with Hawking radiation, where a particle is created and escapes a blackhole by quantums fluctation that take places near the horizon of a blackhole.

The creation of the Particle creates a region of negative energy that is so cancel out by the positive energy of the blackholes gravity field. If a blackhole doesnot constantly swallow matter, this process would eventually cause the blackhole to evaporate.....

When the Blackhole reach a critical radius it Gravity field would be too weak to keep it together and the blackhole would explode..

harry kim stabilzed the wormhole that Voyager tried to get through, but it failed when the Ferengi screwed it up when they went through. he used some kind of particle beam.

As I remember the wormhole was already stable, but it was the Radiation that would have been fatal, and the Ferengi was tricking the Crew into believing that they had a means to transverse the Hole without killing the crew...

all to get 7 of 9 body. yummmmmmmm!
