I remember going to one in Dallas when I was little... but it was crappy and we left. :P So, I've never heard of anything big down there.

Hey Texas and Missouri,
Have you tried going to your local comic book stores to see if they may have info on fan run conventions. I know that I had heard of a couple of fan run cons in the Dallas area and at least one in Kansas City but that was about a year ago.
Joining/starting a local fan club helps too! Like minds and all!
I'll do a little research on my end (Oklahoma) and see if anyone around here knows of any cons in your necks of the woods.
There is one convention at the end of June in Tulsa, Oklahoma called Trek Expo. www.Starbase21ok.com I think is the link but I'll check and get back to ya!
Later,
Capt. Karen

That would be most helpful.
I'll try looking too, but I never seem to have much success.

Hi - I was wondering - while you are doin research to find trek cons in Texas and Missiouri....think you could check out if there are any cons in Louisiana or Mississippi??  Oh, hek, even Alabama...or Northern Florida...  I live in southern Louisiana... and finally found one on the Gulf Coast in Mississippi.  Which is only about an hour from where I live.  It is early next year and Walter Koenig is goin to be there .... which is great cause I love TOS.  However, I really want to go to a con that features Nimoy..... because soon, I fear he will discontinue with his public appearances....  So if anyone know of a con in the above areas I mentioned.... I would appreciate any info.....  Thanks, Linda

There are quite a few conventions here in Texas. The reason Creation and Vulkon stopped coming is the simple fact that fans didn't come out and support the events.

It costs a lot to fly folks out from LA and put them up in hotels and feed them.

Dealers sell most of their stuff on eBay these days so travelling to TX with a bunch of stuff and paying $500 for a dealer's table and then the fans not buying anything just doesn't make sense in this day and age.

Ben Stevens runs a toy show in Richardson that also features a lot of great Trek and Star Wars folks. www.scifiexpo.com is his website.

Austin usually has a bunch of shows as well.

Houston doesn't do well at all. Chase and I did a show there a few years ago and there were literally 50 attendees...
