Okay, for all of you who have played "Star Trek: Shattered Universe", which of the playable fighters is your favourite vessel? Why is it your favourite? And if you've chosen the last option, meaning that you don't like them, why don't you like them?

All right, "Shattered Universe" has a great storyline.

But...

Starfighters belong in "Battlestar Galactica" and "Star Wars."  Not "Star Trek."

Plus, the controls on this one are weak.  I hate to say it, but "Invasion" is probably a better game.

The developers should have had faith that "Trek" fans (and some non-"Trek" fans) would actually enjoy playing a console version of "Starfleet Command" or "Bridge Commander"...

Erm... only hostile forces own Starfighers in "Shattered Universe". The Starfleet of the normal dimension has no fighter vessels, only the Terran Empire in the mirror universe. The Klingons and Romulans also have them, but that's because they're hostile forces. That's why Sulu is shocked when the shuttlebay chief reports that "things have changed down here", and why the Mirror Sulu uses Klingon and Romulan fighters ONLY, because he is stuck on the USS Excelsior and therefore has no fighters of his own. "Shattered Universe" takes place in the mirror universe so that fighters can be explained, and it's done well.

As for the controls, you must be playing the Xbox version, because PlayStation2 controllers and controls for "Shattered Universe" are wonderful and far superior to the bricks that are attatched to the great lump of a nasty video game console that is sold by Microsoft.

Is there a reason someone can't like bridge commander and shattered universe? They just wanted to introduce a new star trek game that was different from others. They are all good in their own ways. I don't see the problem.

Sorry Thunderizer, there ARE fighters in Star Trek.

Nova squad trains in fighter TRAINERS (not shuttles).

The Federation tactical fighter starred in the Dominion war of DS9

I just started getting into SFC3 for modding and discovered the federation Toreth and Phoenix fighters.

The Romulans as well as Gorn, Klingon, and other races have their versions.

Just cause they are small in number does not mean they don't exist or have a specialized use. Otherwise why would starfleet build ships that ferry fighters and shuttles around??? The USS Excellentia, USS Ark Royal and a few others are Federation CARRIERS! Starfleet has MACO/Hazard Teams as well proving they have NOT abandoned the principles of combined arms in combat.

However the "navy" of starfleet is the largest and most prominent component (and the coolest part about Trek).

Can I just say that, fair enough, you've shown me Federation fighters, but during the 2290s there were no Starfleet fighter ships, and "Shattered Universe" is set during the 2290s. The Deep Space Nine ships you've highlighted don't count for this argument... but thanks, anyway.

No Problem... Actually my response should have been directed to THE DRIVER, not you my bad.

I am working on a TC mod for FS2 but working on a multi era storyline.  Your post was correct only HOSTILE forces have fighters in that era.

In the origianl series timeframe (PRE TMP) there were federation fighters (and they looked like crap). AFAIK  the three versions they had back then were NOT upgraded and it seems R&D into fighters was abandoned until the dominion war. (In fact many other races, like the Gorn, bought mass quantities of these fighters until they had sufficent resources to make their own racial versions).

I'd post a pic of the TOS fighters BUT you are better off not seeing them! (ARGH MY EYES!!!)

Interesting, the SHRIKE seems to be the MU version of the Gladiator. I didn't know the Corsair was from Shattered Universe, I just converted that fighter this weekend. Is it doubled in Normal Universe? If not I was planning on doing a SMALL MU chapter anyway.
The Imperial Wraith looks like the Fed Phoenix/Hornet? The Specter and Phantom look new. I would love to get a hold of the Phantom, the specter design just doesn't grab me though.
