Star Trek Downloadable starfleet command III

In a Kazaa like program I typed in ster trek and I found a file that said starfleet command III. So I downloaded it and installed it and it is a game. But I cant run it because of my stupid direct x. I have the 8.0 versian but I downloaded the 8.1 and 9 versian and instlled them and the game still won't run. It keeps on saying that I need to install direct x 8.1. It's probibly my crap dell computer. But I did notice that when I tried to install 8.1 it only ran the setup. Anyone got any advise?

You might have a corrupt version of the download. Many files from those peer sharing downloads are simply bad.

The installation program is telling you it can't find any version of DirectX on your system.

You might have to BUY the game if you really want to play it.

If you search around for the Official SFC3 website, it has a "fix" file for directX, as well as some other updates for the game - you might want to try that

Well there is no demo so I will use that for a testrun to see how I will like it. It's probibly full of viruses so Im going to only keep it on my computer for a while.
