i have seen some hand made uniforms but to be honest i didnt like them. when it come to starfleet uniform its much easiers to buy them. http://startrekexp.com sells official trek uniforms for affordable price. but costumes of different races are hard to find. but if you want something unique like ferengi clothes, best thing would be to gather as much pics of their uniform as possible and take them to someone who is skillful with scissors!

I made a Klingon outfit--I took a leather jacket from a thrift store and cut the arms off and sewed the arms off of a furry-looking sweater onto where I cut the arms off the jacket. I got some leather mid-forearm length gloves, died them black and cut the fingers off for gloves, some black pants and some high black boots. I took the plastic horns off of a costume viking helmet and attached them to the boots. Then I took a block of wood and made a Klingon belt buckle. I go to thift stores about twice a week to look for parts for my Borg outfit (made mostly from athletic equipment)-- I have some photos on my website at http://home.earthlink.net/~eric3060 if you would like to check them out.

Yes, I've made several from each of the series. There are offical patterns out there that make it easy and if you're desperate there's one to enlarge in the back of the old technical manual. As DJLore said, borg and Klingon are vastly enhanced by thrift store finds and I've found some neat "medals" in button stores. TNG costumes are the easiest to make and come out the best. TOS women's costumes are a pain.

I would like to try and find/make a Borg Drone costume, but have no idea where to even start! The ocular implant, the right arm with all those attachments! Any ideas? I found a Borg mask online for $60 but it looked rather plain.

For a Borg cotume start off with something basic like an unitard or a wetsuit. Then just keep adding things on untill you like it. Get as many pictures as you can of Borgs from different angles and see how they put stuff on. Have fun with it. Go to thrift stores, garage sales and Radio shack for stuff. One of my club mates has a very good Borg and even integrated his cell phone hands free cord into his costume! Oh...and don't forget to make it a little practical....i.e. pockets for your money and keys and easy to go to the bathroom. A friend made this really great costume but everytime she had to pee it took three of us to help her get out of and then back into the costume! Later, Karen
