how about a hotel where it has a wing for each series? A central hub that looks like the promenade and you enter through a rolling circular door. You check in on the circular promenade, then walk through one of the other ports to the Enterprise A or D or Voyager or Defiant, etc... that could be cool

That would seem to make the best sense. DS9 for the main and public parts of the hotel, including whatever attractions. Then various starships docked at the station as the guest accomodation wings. Anybody ever see this apartment?: http://community.webshots.com/user/aja24

It is great Idea, I would also love to do a Life size DS9. Have a Hotel and Mall. Do the living area as the hotel and the promenade as the mall. You Idea is great. i am a network engineer and you ever do it let me know and I will offer my services as a network engineer.

| Quote (Jon_Doe_18 @ April 12 2004, 7:59 pm) | One little tidbit... how would you keep the whole thing level? The front part of the saucer section would be heavy enough to make the whole thing take a nose-dive into the ground, wouldn't it? Other than that, it'd be an awesome idea, assuming you could get the money for it, and that Paramount would LET you build it. Of course, a smaller ship would be good to start out with. Like, as someone pointed out, the Defiant? Or even the Delta Flyer? Just thoughts... |
LOL Wasn't that in Generations?

Word of advice on this idea, since I actually sat down with some contractor friends who are also Trek fans and tossed around the numbers two years ago...
First, forget the Enterprise-D. Build the ship from the TOS. It's only 947 feet long.
Second - the hotels, restaurants, conference centers, theaters, etc are a must. You would also want written guarantees that every future ST convention within a 100 mile radius of the structure would be held at your Enterprise.
However, if you do some serious market research, you'll find it's actually feasible, and not an entirely insane business venture. The reason we didn't pursue it further was the looks on the faces of the people we presented the idea to.
PS - while the Primary and Secondary hulls are obviously critical to the construction, you'll save a TON on the nacelles. You can make them out of whatever the cheapest materials are that will survive the elements, since they should likely just be there for decoration.

i hear you buddy........ we all dream about a ship to be able to fly out of this rock :P but it be nice to do even a small theme,if you own your own house with a big enough yard, you can start to remodel it bit by bit in Borg Style, like its being Assimilated

Lifesize Defiant would be cooool ... the next thing up i'd say a lifesize NX
Definately a hotel tho!
But think of the maintenance cost to add to that!!! It's funny that you never see a single cleaning staff member on any ship, they're so clean but nobody to do it!
