Greetings, this is Captain Sariik, Director of the Science Department and Commanding Officer of Task Force Trieste within Starfleet 25th Exploratory Task Group, aslo known as Discovery Fleet.

It’s the year 2296. After almost a century of war between the Federation and the Klingon Empire there is finally peace. The Kithomer Peace Accords are the basis of friendship and co-operation of the two most powerful forces of the known galaxy.

Starfleet can now concentrate again on its explorative and scientific role. Discovery Fleet is one of many newly formed Task Forces that are assembled to accomplish this mission.

This is also the time of fast technological advance. The ASDB has introduced several new classes of powerful space ships like the Chicago-Class Light Cruiser or the Loknar-Class Frigate and the Churchill-Class Heavy Cruiser. Ships like the Excelsior-Class and Constellation-Class Exploratory Cruisers will build the backbone of Starfleet’s operations in the next century.

Like most of the ship designs of the 2260’s their crews have come to age and are now replaced by younger more enthusiastic personnel. Most of the new Starship-Captains have served aboard Starfleet-vessels during the hot periods of the wars against the Klingons and the Romulans. They are skilled soldiers, scientists and diplomats in one person - a new kind of Renaissance-Man.
