I haven’t formed my idea on a new education system yet but I’m thinking that reading should be the main concentration in the begining in combination, which strengthens reading, with a generalized overview of the elemental branches of science (Phyiscs and Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, and Astronomy), plus history and art, then independent and open research by the student, like what happens after a Phd. I’m against "formal schooling" after reading has been mastered because the information can be more freely and easily acquired from educational material and without depending on ignorant "teachers". Maybe there can be research organizations, which will it seems eventually be the only type of Acadamic organizations, who will offer that particular teaching. Any comments?

I left out math as a basic field of science. That was a mistake. Basic math shouldn’t include geomtery. It should only be Arithmetic, Algebra, and some finite math. Prior to research learning nothing else is required.

My main gripe with the educational system is that it isn’t business-oriented enough. Whether your particular bent is secretarial work, research science or premier league football, you’re still going to need business skills. That means keyboarding, IT, well spelt and grammatical English, some basic accountancy/book-keeping, sufficient skill at foreign languages to be understood in a business setting and business economics as well as a strong understanding of how the world of work operates.
Obviously specialist and technical subjects befitting the person’s choice of career would be on top of, not instead of, these basic requirements.
There can be little more frustrating than doing the first round of interviews on junior admin staff and half of them can’t type, can’t spell and can hardly put a grammatical sentence together. As employers, this is not what we call a product, when you think these individuals will have been in full-time education for at least 11 years. What do we pay our taxes for?

I mean the whole point of education in our system is to give the person the ability to be successful in society and then they don’t even talk about business. ??? I forgot to include Economics and Sociology to the list of sciences to be studied. They’re not elemental sciences but they’re necessary to know.
In my opinion I don’t belive people should be forced to learn. They should know how to read so they can teach themselves, because it’s more efficient and free that way. You can learn faster and learn what you want not what is offered.

It’s really not educational reform. The idea is if you want to have a higher quality education then educate yourself. People have the right to go to school if they want and waste their time. That’s their right. :)

Q1, have you ever heard of study technology? What you are describing, i.e. that the person learns how to read and understand things and then studies a variety of subjects for themselves sounds quite like this approach. There are even schools and other educational facilities using this method. Take a look at www.able.org under the educational section. Don’t be put off by its church run background, the social betterment programs are operated in a secular format. I have been involved with an allied organization for almost a decade so I can fully guarantee the success of this study method.

All I needed to hear were L Ron Hubbard and fight against drugs. No thanks. I’m not against drugs, I love drugs, and L Ron Hubbard was a crook. But I’ll check it out out of curiousity. Thanks for the link.
