You put this question on more than one board?? Especially THIS board? I have seen some fine, educational writings by you - why would you want to embarass yourself and profess to beleive in crap like numerology or the occult??? Haven’t you ever heard the term "random occurence"?

we all know that numerology is a pseudoscience like astrology or taroh reading, there is no scientific basis to support it’s claims.

however for the sake of academic boredom...

Numerology has it’s roots in Kabbalism (an ancient hebrew occult philosophy) where the 22 consonants of the hebrew alphabet were used as numbers (vowels were considered to be sacred) and to speak a word or name was to invoke a the magick of the numbers encoded in the word or name. a kabbalistic phrase was in fact a code sequence. Kabbalists believe that the universe was created using numbers, and to unlock the secrets of the universe requires knowing the codes.. they also believe that creation can be undone by invoking the creation code sequence in reverse.. so they guard the secret in fear that some evil-doer will uncreate the universe (as if)

Pythagoras (who was obsessed with numbers) developed this idea further, and believed that everything that exists could be expressed as a number.

this was overtly simplified by assuming that the name of things (interpreted as numbers) was equal to the things themselves.
as if the name Bob was in fact Bob himself and the letters B-O-B in the order they appear in the alphabet become 2-15-2 summing the numerals = 19 summing again = 10 and again = 1

so 1 = Bob

does anything get more absurd than this...you bet! :P

I my self am not a big fan of these kinds of things. Numerology as you know is a divination. This is based on that all objects can be related to numbers and mathematics mainly geometry. By the defition of divination and math it just connects the two. . . .

Well maybe there is more to numbers but I’m not into numerology as far as I know about it, but I know that being psychic is real, and I’m almost convinced of tarot readings. Astrology, probably not, but there’s no denying that the planets and other cosmic objects have influences on organisms on earth. There’s no denying the influences of the moon, and so why deny that other celestial objects can also have influences. The actual influences as far as I’m concerned are unknown. I’ve heard a little about Kabbalism, but not as much as this, thanks.
