Here is an idea:

1. Make/print a chart of the night sky.
2. Label some of the objects that Star Trek ships have been to or studied.
3. Index the chart to your project sheets.
4. Give detailed information on each object based on our current knowledge.
5. Download and print images to go with your project.

Another idea: write a paper about the effects on space of gravity. As a method of supporting the concept, talk about a phenomenon known as a "gravitational lens." This is for real science. For info, go to hubble.stsci.edu/

Look for images and articles on gravitational lenses. It’s a trip.

First, make sure your instructor is cool with the Star Trek angle. No sense getting a bad grade because the instructor thinks the essay contains too much fiction ansd not enough science. If they are cool with it, use the Trek warp drive and discuss interstellar travel in light of modern theories and discoveries. gravitaional strings, gravitaional lenses, time and space near an event horizon, worm holes. Have your physics down. As a back up you can do the life cycle of stars, the formation of nuetron stars etc.

Everyone else has said the things I do for reports. So take their advice.
