I’ve given up and need a hint. I’m playing "Single Player"
and have reached the Vohrsoth. Unfortunately, my attempts to
kill it as suggested in the strategy guide has failed. I
attempt to hit its tentacles using the dreadnot weapon with its
secondary fire but it does not die. Any suggestions out there?
I’d appreciate it.

I understand your problem. It took me some time before I was able to kill the boss. I will have to tell you my strategy since I have never tried the guide.

I have two basics parts of the plan. 1--Keep running. 2--Fire from behind a pylon.

As soon as I begin fighting the boss, I run in a figure 8 of types around the two pylons present in the "arena" while unloading a single secondary photon shot every time I come around each column. (The mouse is VERY useful for fighting the boss.) I do this for one major reason. When he stands up and has the yellow column coming out of his stomach, I have found that if I stay still when he does this, then I will acquire MAJOR damage and won’t last long(earthquake and misc. fire). So therefore, constant running in the figure 8 counteracts that. The figure 8 also helps in avoiding most if not all of the fire he throws out at me(varying path to shake him some). I also grab supplies on the run too which limites my down time and thus my vulnerability.

I listen for when the noise of his rumbling and fire quiets down and then I take up position normally slightly behind the left pylon. BE VERY CAREFUL HERE!!!!! It is extremely important that I take up a position just around the corner using the ’a’ buttion I believe to go left. If I’m out too far, I’m vulnerable. I’m in too close to the right, I’ll toast myself with my own fire hitting the pylon. I do this because he will still try to hit me with weapons (the balls that come straight at me) but I am unreachable there. In other words, he can’t get me but I can sit there and unload secondary photon fire at him.

Once I see him arch up (getting ready to do the yellow column again) I go into the running figure 8. I repeat this process till he’s dead.

I hope this long explanation is at least somewhat of what you were looking for and isn’t annoying but he’s VERY hard to defeat and it takes time and A LOT of rounds so be patient cuz it’ll take a while. I don’t think I’m forgetting anything. It may take a few trials to get it down. I hope this makes sense. If not, let me know and I’ll try explaining it again. have a good day and happy hunting!

I found it easier to use the alternative granada button, and just plant so many mones on his under belly, it killed him in a space of 3 minutes !
