FIRST LOOK: NECA/WizKids' Romulan I.R.W. Haakona

StarTrek.com has the final First Look at NECA/WizKids' upcoming Star Trek: Attack Wing's Wave 12 releases, and today we preview the Romulan I.R.W. Haakona, out in March. The D’Deridex class ship will see service as the focal point of many fleets thanks to the increase in attack potential provided when other Romulan ships are in the fleet. Taris can sacrifice a Crew member to target a ship outside of the ship’s forward firing arc while Centurion allows for the reroll of a Battle Station result when attacking. Mendak will make a fine Admiral for a fleet thanks to his ability to place a Battle Station token on his own ship or another friendly ship within range 1 or 2.

With three copies of the Romulan Security Officer on the bridge, a captain will see an increase in Skill by +3 and also have the ability to reroll blank results while defending. The Romulan Sub Lieutenant can be discarded to disable 1 or two shields on a target ship depending on its Hull value. Red Maneuvers are of little concern when the Romulan Helmsman can be disabled to treat those maneuvers as if they were white maneuvers.

When looking at Weapon Upgrades, players will be familiar with the Plasma Torpedoes that provide the ability to re-roll blank results. For those looking to try out something new, the Disruptor Pulse which allows for a 3 dice attack against each enemy ship in your forward firing arc might be of interest. For a more focused assault, Disruptor Beams will be the upgrade most players will reach for thanks to its 5 attack dice and the ability to possibly add one additional damage to the attack. Finally, the Elite Talent, Make Them See Us! will catch many lower level opposing captains off guard.

In the Contagion mission, both the Federation and Romulan players must form an uneasy alliance as they attempt to avoid probes from the planet Iconia and purge the downloaded data that is causing system-wide malfunctions to cripple both ships.
