Burton To Keynote Celebrate Innovation Week

Maybe Captain Kirk will stop by. That's surely what some of the folks planning to attend the upcoming Celebrate Innovation Week, or ciWeek, in Des Moines, Iowa, are thinking. Even if Kirk can't make the trek from Riverside, attendees will still appreciate the words of wisdom that'll be spoken by LeVar Burton, Star Trek: The Next Generation's Geordi La Forge, Kunta Kinte from Roots, and the longtime host of Reading Rainbow. Burton will serve as the keynote speaker for the event, which will be hosted at the Des Moines Area Community College from March 2-6. This year's theme is... "To Boldly Go."

Burton will give his talk on March 5. Other speakers will include bionics engineer Hugh Herr, planetary scientist and astrophysicist Dr. Sara Seater, NASA astronaut Clayton Anderson and oceanographer Dr. David Gallo. The event will be open to the public.
